General Distributing Company is a family owned business that has been serving Montana since 1948. Glenn E. Bliss bought into the company in approximately 1952 and slowly grew the company, relying on core values of integrity and being a good neighbor and member of the community. His son Glenn F. Bliss became President in the 1970s and oversaw a steady growth and expansion of the operations across Montana with support and customer service into Canada. Glenn W. Bliss (G. W.) is a third generation family owner and has been President of the company since 1999. Under G.W.'s leadership, General Distributing has increased sales and market share, become even more active in community endeavors, and expanded into the Billings market in September 2001.
General Distributing has two primary business segments: industrial and medical. With the industrial business, we focus on industrial welding gases, specialty gases, welding and plasma equipment and accessories, and safety supplies. Our primary customer base is farm and
