The 2nd & 7 Foundation

The 2nd & 7 Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward. It was started in 1999 by three former Ohio State Buckeye football players - Ryan Miller, Luke Fickell and Mike Vrabel. The foundation has given away over 125,000 books since it began, and has created it's own children's book series. Each year, a new story is released about a group of characters, the Hog Mollies, who learn a valuable life lesson during their adventures. In 2015, the 8th book in that series was published. While the foundation began in central Ohio, it has now grown to reach children all across the country. From Lancaster, Ohio to Albuquerque, New Mexico, current and former college, pro and high school student-athletes visit with 2nd graders to read to them, talk to them about the importance of their education and give each one of them a new book to take home.
