The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village is a comprehensive living, learning and healing community in rural Rwanda that seeks to "restore the rhythm of life" for 500 vulnerable young people by providing them with loving support, physical and mental health care and exemplary education. The Village's mission is to enable these children to maximize their potential and live healthy and productive lives, while instilling in them the importance of contributing to their society and the world.
(Agahozo is the Kinyarwanda word for "a place where one's tears are dried" and Shalom is Hebrew for "peace.")
The youth of Agahozo-Shalom come from all 30 districts in Rwanda. All of the children carry the culture of their home, unique talents, and the insatiable desire to learn and grow.
