This is the page of lip wing system and Aliptera concept aircraft.
A typical airplane needs a horizontal thrust 10 times less than its weight; contrary, in VTOL mode, the thrust needs to balance the weight otherwise the aircraft cannot leave the ground.
The lip wing system tries to solve this conundrum generating more lift in VTOL configuration, but rearranging it's elements for a lower drag/ lower thrust in horizontal flying mode. More details on the aliptera.com website.
