The American Himalayan Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the people and ecology of the Himalaya. In these remote regions people often live without basic health care and education. Economic pressures have forced environmental degradation.
The AHF was founded twenty-five years ago to respond to some of these pressing problems. The AHF funds building schools and hospitals, planting trees, training doctors, taking care of children and elderly, and restoring sacred sites throughout the Himalayas. AHF supports and funds projects directly, and with other organizations in larger, cooperative endeavors. In every case, AHF projects involve local commitment and community participation.
