Andøya Space Center (ASC) provides launch solutions for sounding rockets and scientific balloons. ASC also performs remotely piloted aircraft operations and is host to a large array of ground based scientific instruments.
ASC was founded in the 1960s under the former name, Andøya Rocket Range (ARR) as a launch facility for sounding rockets. The Company was renamed Andøya Space Center i 2014 and is owned 90% byThe Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and 10% by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. From the very start ASC has collaborated with customers worldwide, and the list includes European Space Agency, NASA, JAXA, CNES, DLR as well as many universities and research institutes.
Andøya Space Center has completed well over thousand rocket launches, and has in recent years expanded its activity to include ground based scientific instrumentation such as the ALOMAR observatory.
