Art Van Furniture is one of America’s largest independent furniture retailers and Michigan’s premier customer destination for great style at an affordable price.
Our Chairman and Founder, Art Van Elslander “Mr. Van”, began working in a Detroit furniture store as a young man. Within just a few short years, he was ready for a bigger challenge. In 1959, he opened his own store. His founding philosophy was to provide the community with quality furniture at great prices, with always high standards of customer service. Although Detroit's economy was struggling, the company grew into a respected name in the furniture industry.
Today Art Van Furniture operates more than 35 full-line furniture stores throughout Michigan as well as over 40 stand-alone mattress stores operating as, "Art Van PureSleep" and “Mattress World.” Our expansion and growth plans call for opening stores in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois throughout 2013 and 2014.
