Bicycles Online (www.bicyclesonline.com.au) was launched in June 2011 by co-founders Jonathon Allara and James van Rooyen with the aim to make cycling more accessible. We do this by enabling Australians to buy a great range of high quality bikes, parts, and clothes at affordable prices from us directly and have them built and shipped to them for free, backed by a great test ride program, returns policy, and commitment to service.
The concept was born from the belief that cycling is becoming increasingly popular in Australia and the bicycle retail market seemed very fragmented – dominated by small shops and big international online retailers. We believed there was a real opportunity to provide high quality bikes at more affordable price points, backed with great service., in Australia it was very difficult to purchase large brand name bikes on the web (due to brands not wanting to sell directly online and steal market share from their existing distribution network of independent bike retailers)
