biq is een architectenbureau dat werkt aan alle facetten van het stadsontwerp. De nadruk ligt op de woningbouw in de bestaande stad. biq werkt op alle schaalniveaus, aan uiteenlopende opgaven en zowel aan nieuwbouw als renovatie.
Het bureau is in 1994 gevestigd. Na het winnen van de Europan-4 prijsvraag werkt biq aan diverse opgaven in Engeland. Naast praktische opdrachten werkt biq aan onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsopgaven, hetgeen resulteerde in artikelen in diverse internationale publicaties, het boek ‘Architectuur in de kapotte stad’ en 'Habitat, biq bouwt de stad'.
biq houdt van solide gebouwen, die iets tijdloos hebben. Een lange levensduur van gebouwen heeft een positief effect op hun omgeving: die moet niet te vaak van gezicht veranderen, anders verliest een stad haar vertrouwde beelden en oriëntatiepunten.
