A câmara municipal é constituída por um presidente e por vereadores, um dos quais designado vice-presidente, e é o órgão executivo colegial do município, eleito pelos cidadãos eleitores recenseados na sua área.

b) Doze vereadores no Porto;
c) Dez vereadores nos municípios com 100000 ou mais eleitores;
d) Oito vereadores nos municípios com mais de 50000 e menos de 100000 eleitores;
e) Seis vereadores nos municípios com mais de 10.000 e até 50.000 eleitores;
f) Quatro vereadores nos municípios com 10000 ou menos eleitores.
