The CAER is a public-private partnership between CBSE, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, and the Pearson Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Pearson, one of the world's leading media and education companies.
Designated a not-for-profit organization, the CAER functions through an Executive Council chaired by the Chairman of CBSE, Mr. Vineet Joshi.
The CAER develops research and assessment capabilities and resources for CBSE, its affiliated schools and teachers and also serves as a research body for all educational boards and organizations in the country.
Its work is informed by international best practices in school-based assessment, teaching techniques and high-stakes examinations. It carries out research, provides professional development programs, and publishes a variety of support materials, all with the single aim of improving student learning.
