Contemporary Productions is a one-of-a-kind event and entertainment agency with over four decades of experience. Our team is comprised of professionals providing event planning, creative design, talent booking, technical production, public relations and marketing services throughout the nation.
In 1969, Contemporary Productions president and founder, Steve Schankman, sought out to make his mark on the entertainment industry. After booking local bands for several years, in 1970 Steve finally brought the Grateful Dead to the Fox Theater. Over the next 40 plus years, Contemporary would grow into a multi-faceted company including marketing, ticketing and entertainment production divisions, develop two major Midwestern amphitheaters, book over 1000 concerts annually and produce the ’99 papal visit to St. louis.
In 1998, Steve sold Contemporary Productions to SFX Entertainment. Not long after, SFX was sold to Clear Channel Communications. Steve decided to break away and reopen Contemporary Productions. In 200
