FilmFish is the world's first humanly curated movie suggestion engine, currently in Beta stage. Historically, viewers had few options when finding a film (whatever happened to be on television or in theaters). They could easily navigate their options with a TV guide. Today there are over 1 million movies available online; the problem used to be too little choice, now it is too much. Recommendation algorithms that aim to solve this problem consistently make poor suggestions. They can break a film into parts, but fail to understand its essence. We have found a better way to suggest movies. Our team of film-experts map out the world of film into thousands of humanly curated micro-genres, which we call ‘mood lists’. Examples are ‘Neo-Grindhouse Action’, 'Anderson-esque Comedy', 'RomComs Men Like', and ‘Road-Trip Classics’.
