Gilan’s story and the passion the Gilan family has for luxury has its roots way back in the 18th century, in a village in Kosovo, where their grandmother had sewn tailor-made dresses for the Ottoman Pashas. True to their heritage, brothers Muharrem and Ferhan began their quest for luxury in 1980, albeit in a jewellery store of only 1,5 sqm. In a few years, their hereditary passion for design and luxury led them to move İstanbul where Gilan flourished as a world-renowned luxury jewellery house.
İstanbul, seat of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, a city with a history of almost 8500 years, whose glory and elegance is spellbinding, plays an important part in The House of Gilan’s designs. Interpreting the jewelry making traditions amassed in İstanbul throughout the ages with modern design elements is Gilan’s primary passion.
