Girls in the Know is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which educates and empowers pre-teen girls ages 9-13 and their mothers/female role models together in small group settings. Founded in July of 2009, this educational program launched the first four-week Speaker Series in September of 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Led by a group of female professionals, this month long speaker series meets weekly teaching mothers and daughters healthy communication skills while educating them on the following four subjects:
“Empowering Your Pre-Teen Daughter”
“Promoting a Healthy Body Image”
“All About Safety~ Internet, Cell Phones, Home & Away”
“The Birds and the Bees~ What Pre-Teen Girls Should Know”
GITK MISSION:
To strengthen the mother-daughter bond through education and to promote healthy behaviors and decisions as pre-teen girls mature into adulthood.
