The Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting Co., Ltd（GAB) was officially inaugurated on December 31st, 2008. The company was established to meet the requirements set out by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and strictly abides to the OCA criteria for its host broadcaster. The OCA requires that the production and the management of the broadcast signals of the Asian Games be handled by an independent host broadcast organization, selected through a public bidding process regulated by the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC). This process took place during the period of April to July, 2008, and was reviewed in October 2008. Following the bidding process, approval was granted by the OCA to Guangzhou Asian Broadcasting Co., Ltd to act as the host broadcaster for the 16th Asian Games.
