Mission. The mission of Guardian Angel Settlement Association is to serve people living in poverty by helping them improve the quality of their lives and achieve economic independence. Guardian Angel Settlement Association (GASA) has been serving vulnerable populations for 153 years. Established in 1859 by the Daughters of Charity (D.C.) as an orphanage for young immigrant girls, GASA has evolved into an agency serving children, families and older adults. This expansion of services has cemented GASA’s role as a community anchor, providing low- and no-income clients with temporary relief in times of economic strife and pathways to long-term independence. GASA is proud to be one of the charter members of the United Way of Greater St. Louis.
