WHO ARE WE?
The Hiscock Legal Aid Society promotes the fundamental right of every person to equal justice under the law by providing high quality legal assistance to individuals and families in need in Onondaga County and the surrounding region. The organization currently employs a staff of 55, including 30 attorneys and 7 law assistants. The majority of our clients are the working poor. We work collaboratively with other legal assistance and human service providers to develop innovative ways to provide needed services to the maximum number of people in our community.
WHO DO WE HELP?
We are the major legal advocate for domestic violence victims in Onondaga County, and in this role, we help prevent violence in the home and help victims leave abusive situations.
We prevent eviction and homelessness for countless families who would otherwise require costly emergency assistance and shelter. We help our clients obtain the necessary financial support to keep their homes and families together.
