The 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida covers Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry , and Lee counties. CJIS is an acronym for “Criminal Justice Information System” and was started in 1990 by Court Administration, Public Defender, and State Attorney agencies in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida to share resources and manage a Case Management System common to their Criminal Justice activities. A Case Management System, also called CJIS, was installed and upgraded to it’s present form.
