Maya Yoga specializes in the traditional practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in a welcoming and locally owned studio that nurtures a noncompetitive environment for people of all ages, body types, and cultures; this is not your corporate gym.
History
Maya Yoga was founded on April 28, 2002 by Kathleen Kastner. Its first home was on the top floor of the Arts Incubator, thanks to Jeff Becker, the owner. After two years, it moved across the street above YJ’s for another few years. Maya Yoga has resided in the FIlm Row Building since 2006, which is its permanent beautiful home.
Over the years, Maya Yoga has received many accolades and is repeatedly recognized as one of the best studios in Kansas City. Its teachers are some of the most experienced Ashtanga professionals in the region. It is through the dedication of Maya Yoga’s teachers and students that it has become a cornerstone in the Kansas City yoga community.
