One Family, founded in 1972 as Cherish, is a charity which offers support, information and services to people parenting alone, sharing parenting and separating, and their children; to those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy; and to professionals working with one-parent families.
In addition to striving for fundamental structural change, we support individual families as they parent through times of family, work and life change such as separation, divorce and bereavement. We support families who have experienced difficulties including desertion, domestic violence and homelessness. We know that every family is unique, and so we work in a family centered way to bring about better lives for parents and children.
We offer a suite of Professional Development opportunities for people who work with families, parents and children. It includes our acclaimed three-day training programmes, 'Positive Parenting for Changing Families' and 'Family Communications: Coping with Family Life and Communication with Teenage
