The Palm Island Community Company is a not for profit organisation established in 2007. It was three years in the making and is a tri-partisan political initiative that has been developed to its present position due to ongoing support by the Queensland Government, Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, community members and the Board of Directors.
As a pioneering initiative to provide service delivery, capacity building and economic development to Palm Island, the company has established a governance structure that incorporates commercial expertise together with Palm Island representation. The ingenuity of the service delivery model provides the opportunity to coordinate and link services across community, government and individuals—an approach which assists in meeting the diverse needs of the Palm Island community.
