Places for People's mission is to provide caring, effective services to help those with the greatest challenges recover from mental illness and associated chronic illnesses. We partner with families who have young children at-risk for behavioral health problems and who would benefit from parenting education and support, young adults who experience behavioral health problems, refugees who are survivors of torture and trauma, and adults with serious mental health disorders, frequently with co-occurring disorders such as addiction and/or HIV/AIDS.
On January 1, 2011, Places for People and Community Alternatives merged as a single provider of mental health services. This important decision strengthens Places for People's position in a changing healthcare environment and in challenging economic times. More importantly, it combines the resources of two leading agencies to benefit people who may not otherwise have received the services they need.
