Contact the Elderly organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for people over 75 who live alone with little or no contact with family and friends. With a very simple concept, we alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation felt by older people.
Groups of volunteer drivers pick up the same group of older people, all living locally, and together they go to the home of a volunteer host where they spend a couple of hours together, drinking tea, eating cakes and sandwiches whilst catching up with friends, old and new.
The same volunteers and older members get together month after month, year after year, and firm friendships are formed giving the older members a new lease of life and something to look forward to.
