Riksrevisjonen er Stortingets revisjons- og kontrollorgan som bl.a. gransker statens regnskaper. De fem riksrevisorer velges av Stortinget for fire år av gangen.
Riksrevisjonen har som sin overordnede oppgave å føre kontroll med at statens midler brukes og forvaltes på en økonomisk forsvarlig måte og i samsvar med Stortingets vedtak og forutsetninger. Målet er en bedre forvaltning.
