It also acts as a nodal agency for the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana scheme for rural electricity infrastructure, National Electricity Fund, Outage Management System, and 11kV Rural Feeder Management System, as well as acts as the bid process coordinator for selection of developer through tariff based competitive bidding process for establishment of inter-state transmission systems; and operates a training institute that offers programs on power transmission and distribution systems, and non-conventional energy systems. The company serves Indian public sector power utilities, such as central and state power utilities, as well as private sector power utilities through a network of project offices and its training center. The company was incorporated in 1969 and is based in New Delhi, India.
