Sarvajal is a for-profit social enterprise founded in mid-2008 with the mission of providing affordable, accessible and pure water for everyone (Sarvajal literally means “Water for All”).
Our long-term goal is to ensure that every person on the planet has consistent access to affordable clean water. To do this, we run a company-owned, franchisee-operated model where locally selected franchisees operate micro-filtration plants designed to serve communities ranging in size (a few hundred to a few thousand) and location (rural, urban, or peri-urban). Franchisees receive training and business support (marketing, accounting, maintenance etc.) to sell ultra-affordable water (30 paise per liter or 0.007 USD) to their communities with revenues shared in a way that creates livelihoods for our Franchisees and their employees, and aligns their incentives with our own: to get more people, more clean water.
