It all started with our founder, Derk Maats, who, as a young boy, grew up around the heavily used rivers that fed the Pulp and Paper Mills of Thunder Bay, Ontario. As he played in those heavily polluted waters he would inevitably come out with nasty skin irritations and health problems. He learned that economic prosperity had a cost but knew that the blatant abuse and disregard for the environment was totally avoidable.
