In Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, one of the most agriculturally abundant areas of the country, food insecurity is around every corner. Second Harvest Community Food Bank, located in St. Joseph, Missouri, has been providing hunger relief to low-income families since 1981. Our number one priority is to build hunger-free communities in our service area through our four initiatives: Nourishing Seniors, Nourishing Children, Nourishing Families and Nourishing Neighborhoods.
This year, Second Harvest distributed 6 million pounds of food in our 19-county service area in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. Each week, Second Harvest nourishes more than 15,000 individuals through our 100-plus Partner Agencies and direct service programs.
