Sinhaputhra Finance PLC commenced business in 1979. Its main lines of business at commencement were Hire Purchase Finance and Deposit Mobilization. The Company grew over the years and today it carries a broad-based business portfolio.

Sinhaputhra Finance PLC was inaugurated 1978 and financed the transport industry. With the Country's open economic policy Sinhaputhra began to grow over the years and today it counts over 34 years of service in the financial sector.
In a recent move the Company entered the stock market where its many shareholders commenced trading their shares. It was listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange on 02-06-2010.
Sinhaputhra has branches Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Colombo, Dambulla, Matale, Katugastota, Kurunegala, Kundasale and Trincomalee. A Collection Center is located at Mahiyangane.
