SmartSky Networks, a next-generation aviation communications provider, is launching the nation’s first airborne 4G air-to-ground (ATG) network, SmartSky 4G, later this year with full US coverage slated for 2017. SmartSky’s patented beamforming technology will provide more than 10 times the typical speed and capacity of the current industry standard ATG network by using 60 MHz of spectrum.
