Sophiahemmet är en av Sveriges första skolor för utbildning av sjuksköterskor. Skolan skapades av Drottning Sophia och Konung Oscar II 1883 och det anknutna sjukhuset 1889.
Sophiahemmet, ideell förening bedriver fortfarande såväl utbildning som vård i egna vackert belägna lokaler i centrala Stockholm.
Sophiahemmet Högskola är en av landets främsta högskolor för grund- och vidare utbildning av sjuksköterskor och Sophiahemmets sjuksköterskekår är välkänd och uppskattad i hela landet. Högskolan driver också genom ett av Föreningen helägt dotterbolag kvalificerad vidareutbildning av sjukvårdspersonal av olika kategorier. Utbildning ges både på högskolenivå och genom andra yrkesanpassade kurser, oftast på distans och med avancerat datorstöd.
Föreningen bedriver hälso- och sjukvård genom det till 100% ägda vårdbolaget Sophiahemmet AB. Sjukhuset har utvecklats till ett modernt och högkvalitativt privatsjukhus med omfattande specialistvård vid såväl öppna mottagningar som i sluten vård. Sophiahemmet erbjuder
