South Hampstead High School is an independent day school for girls aged 4-18 in North London. It was established in1876 and is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust. The SHHS ethos is to nurture individual potential by providing a balanced, all-round education in a uniquely cosmopolitan community. A love of learning is encouraged, to enable girls to achieve academic excellence within an intellectually dynamic environment. The school also excels at sport, drama, music and art, plus has an extensive extra-curricular programme. Admission is by competitive assessment at each stage of entry - 4 + (Reception), 7+ (Year 3), 11 + (Year 7) and 16+ (Sixth Form) - and there is heavy demand for places. Public examination results are consistently outstanding, with the majority of Sixth Form leavers going on to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
