Spowe-uganda

The Support Program for Orphans Widows and the Elderly (SPOWE) is a charitable organisation founded in September 2008 with offices in Uganda and the UK. We work to improve the livelihoods of orphans, widows and elderly bereaved through HIV/AIDS. SPOWE is about providing access to education, skills and training, relief, medicine and basic necessities and income. We offer a grassroots approach empowering towards self-reliance. We aim to pay school fees and provide scholastic materials to orphans, provide support for microfinance initiatives, conduct our own extra-curricular awareness and skills workshops in partner schools, provide emergency relief and assistance, sensitisation to HIV/AIDS, provide access to other forms of training and other activities. We are working towards our 5-year plan of creating a resource centre in Kampala which can house these activities all in one place, fostering community spirit.
