Duke qenë se Shqipëria kishte një kulturë modeste në prodhimin dhe konsumin e birrës krahasuar me atë shekullore europiane, vetëm pas viteve 90, themeluesit e fabrikës së prodhimin të birrës Stela iu përgjigjën urisë së tregut duke investuar me seriozitet pajisje, teknologji dhe shkencë. Vit pas viti kjo kompani u rrit dhe “importoi” në vend atë që ishte testuar dhe vulosur si më e mira në Europe.
Kështu, filloi rrugëtimin 20 vjet më parë shoqëria askionere Stefani & Co, fllimisht si Dorina e Stela me kapacitet prodhimi e shpërndarje deri në 500 litra në ditë. Sot fabrika ka mbi 130 punonjës dhe ka një kapacitet prodhimi prej 250.000 hl në vit.
Marka e saj Stela, është birra e dytë më e shitur dhe mbulon rreth 15-18% të konsumit të birrave në tregun shqiptar. Sipërmarrësit që themeluan dhe çuan përpara këtë bisnes, janë katër intelektualë shqiptarë: Dr. Stefan Pinguli , Z. Kujtim Kellezi, Z. Mihal Panteqi dhe Prof. Roland Pinguli.
