Technology Access Foundation (TAF), founded in 1996, is a Seattle-based non-profit leader founded in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. TAF equips students of color for success in college and life through the power of a STEM education. We make systemic change through creative partnerships with public education and STEM industry.
We address three problems that keep students of color away from STEM and essentially disqualify them from competing and thriving in today’s society:
1) low expectations
2) a shortage of role models in STEM
3) lack of access to a quality, STEM- focused education
We use STEM education as a tool for social change and educational equality. Our work is centered around #STEMJustice. Our targeted approach for addressing longstanding historical inequities for students of color develops leadership and citizenship in ALL students.
