The Shefa School is a new Jewish community day school in Manhattan, opening in September, 2014. Shefa will ultimately enroll children ages 5-14 who need a specialized educational environment in order to best develop their strengths while addressing their learning differences. The school will specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings.
Even among the excellent schooling options available to NYC families, there exists an unmet need at the nexus of Jewish day schools and secular special needs schools. Shefa seeks to fill this gap by offering families a new choice: a special needs school of academic excellence that seamlessly integrates rich Jewish community, culture, and traditions. At Shefa, students will experience a comprehensive Jewish-values based education that prioritizes each individual child's learning needs.
