The company was first formed in 1953 with the incorporation of Walter Somers Material Handling and went on to exist as Somers Handling and as part of the Triapt Holdings group alongwith Sefac and Pro-Lift. The SomersTotalKare business that operates today was born in 2004 when a management buyout sparked the demerger of Triapt and unified the UK divisions of Somers Vehicle Lifts and its aftersales division TotalKare.
