Là một tổ chức phi chính phủ hoạt động theo nguyên tắc phi lợi nhuận, trực thuộc Liên Hiệp các Hội UNESCO Việt Nam (VFUA). UNESCO-Cep hoạt động theo Điều lệ của VFUA và sứ mệnh của UNESCO.
Nhiệm vụ và quyền hạn của UNESCO-CEP
– Mở các lớp, các khóa đào tạo, bồi dưỡng, huấn luyện về ngoại ngữ, tin học, văn hóa, âm nhạc, mỹ thuật và các hoạt động giáo dục khác cho các đối tượng có nhu cầu trong cộng đồng trong phạm vi quy định và hướng dẫn của cơ quan nhà nước có thẩm quyền.
– Tổ chức các khóa dạy tiếng Việt và Văn hóa Việt Nam cho người nước ngoài; các hoạt động giao lưu văn hóa và các sự kiện văn hóa.
– Tổ chức các khóa tập huấn, trao đổi kinh nghiệm, hội thảo, hội nghị về các lĩnh vực văn hóa, giáo dục và khoa học. Thực hiện các chương trình biên, phiên dịch các ngôn ngữ theo yêu cầu.
– Hợp tác, liên kết với các cá nhân, tổ chức trong và ngoài nước để thực hiện các chương trình đào tạo, giảng dạy. Thực hiện các chương trình trao đổi sinh viên; trao đổi và hỗ trợ giáo viên.
