W.I.N.G.S. Maternity Home is a Registered Non-Profit Home for homeless pregnant young women who need to be Loved; Nurtured; Encouraged and Supported in the Durham Region.
Our Mission is to shelter and educate homeless, pregnant and parenting young women by assisting in providing comprehensive services that empower them to make successful life decisions for themselves and their babies.
Our home provides food, clothing, individual counselling and help to facilitate a way for the girls to receive medical care, childbirth/parenting classes, mandatory participation in education at our NEST (WINGS home school), or job training, practical life skills lessons and independent living skills training.
W.I.N.G.S. Home's mandate is to help the "mommy to be" break the potential negative cycle associated with teen pregnancy: Abortion, High risk births with premature and low birth-weight babies, Interrupted education, repeat teen pregnancy, Poverty, Dependence on public assistance and Child abuse and neglect in
