WaterLegacy is an award-winning non-profit founded in 2009 by citizens concerned that copper-nickel mining in sulfide rock proposed for Northeastern Minnesota would pollute surface and groundwater, destroy habitats and diminish high value natural resources.
Our mission is to protect Minnesota’s water resources and the human and ecological communities that depend on that water from environmental degradation, particularly that caused by sulfide mining. We value fresh, clean water as a legacy for generations to come. We believe Minnesota’s freshwater is a precious ecological resource and is essential to the health of local communities and regional economies.
