"The Waterloo Area Historical Society's mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation in children and adults of the pioneer farmers of Michigan, their family life, and their children's schooling." In pursueing our mission statement we provide several events and opportunities for school children and adult guests to experience the early settlers life in Michigan. Each spring and fall, several schools from southern Michigan bring 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classes to spend the day at the Farm Museum and Dewey School Museum. The School Marm takes the children through a tipical day at a one room school. The children then learn the various chores to be done on a farm.
