The Hunter SLSA Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a free, community owned and operated aero-medical retrieval service contracted to the Ambulance Service of NSW. The Helicopters undertake over 1400 missions per year across the Hunter, Mid North Coast, Central Coast, New England and North West regions of NSW. The Service is a non-profit organisation and survives on the back of sustained, corporate and community support. In over 35 years of operation, no-one has ever paid to be airlifted in an emergency or time of need. The Service operates four aircraft , two Bell 412 helicopters located in Broadmeadow and two BK117 helicopters based in Tamworth servicing regional NSW.
