Aiming at a reduction of emissions from the cooling sectors, the Green Cooling Initiative combines three approaches: 1. promoting natural refrigerants, 2. maximising energy efficiency, 3. foster a sustainable approach to private and commercial energy consumption.
Green cooling helps to protect the environment, resources and the climate and implies the support the use of renewable technologies within cooling to contribute towards a sustainable reduction of ozone depleting substances (ODS), greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and fossil fuel consumption.
The term "green cooling technologies" describes equipment with maximized energy efficiency that is using natural refrigerants and thereby minimizes the environmental impact.
To further promote and enable the spread and introduction of green cooling technologies, the Green Cooling Initiative launched their own website.
The GCI Website provides information on technologies, regulations, market trends, emission data and emission reduction potential.
